Petersburg Mental Health Services

"Doing Whatever Works" to support the needs and increase the quality of life of the people of Petersburg

Petersburg Mental Health Services is a community based behavioral health organization dedicated since 1993 to providing behavioral health assistance and support to address needs and increase the quality of life of the people of Petersburg.  We are committed to works that help the people of our community achieve wellness, personal growth, and quality of life in a safe and encouraging environment.

Petersburg Mental Health Services continues evolving.

For 28 years we were the 24-hour comprehensive behavioral health service agency in our community, and often the only service in town. We continue to serve, now in more focused ways, staying true to our mission to increase  behavioral health options, improve the quality of life of the people of Petersburg, and do “whatever works” to help our community.

We demonstrate this by providing short-term support for grief and trauma or other life situations not typically covered by insurance, at no cost, to up to 10 clients per week.  We serve as a safety net and specialized resource to the vulnerable and bereaved in our community.

We also support other local nonprofits with projects that support our mission, make Petersburg a healthy place to live, and improve the quality of life of people in our town.

Petersburg Mental Health Services is honored to be able to continue to support our community in new ways.  In July of 2023, PMHS donated $12,000 to the Petersburg Community Foundation (PCF).  Our contribution ensures that PCF reaches their $25,000 fundraising goal and that it will be generously matched 1:1 by the Rasmuson Foundation.  Our donation supports the operating fund for PCF as well as the annual grants awarded in our community.
